Maria Montessori

Maria Montessori was an Italian physician and educator who lived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born in 1870 in Chiaravalle, Italy, she was a pioneering figure in the development of modern education.

Montessori developed a revolutionary educational method named after her, known as "Montessori education." Her method is based on the belief in the intrinsic motivation of children and emphasizes the importance of a prepared environment where children can learn independently and unfold their potential.

In 1907, she opened the first Casa dei Bambini (Children's House) and introduced her ideas and principles to schools worldwide. Montessori education has since spread internationally and is now a recognized and respected alternative to traditional education.
